ABOUT CIARB KENYA
The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators is a leading Professional Membership Organisation representing the interests of Alternative Dispute Resolution practitioners’ world- wide.
The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Kenya Branch, established in 1984, is one among the branches of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, which was founded in 1915 with headquarters in London. It promotes and facilitates the determination of disputes by Arbitration and other forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), which includes Mediation and Adjudication. The Institute has over 20,000 members spread out in about 90 countries in the world with branches in England, Wales, Scotland, Hongkong, Europe, Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia, Mauritius, Australia, India and North America among other countries. It has affiliations with arbitration bodies and institutions in other countries across the world and with the London Court of International Arbitration and the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris. It is a not-for-profit organization and gained charitable status in 1990.
Currently the Institute has members from such diverse fields as Architecture, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Law, Insurance, Accounting and Property Valuation.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The expansion of international trade, particularly in recent decades, has spawned a large number and type of international disputes. International arbitration has largely been accepted as a tool to promote and attract FDI for large public infrastructural projects as it provides an internationally accepted platform for Alternate Dispute Resolution.
This conference provides an excellent forum for International Arbitration professionals & users to network and create valuable synergy required to promote, profile and celebrate Africa’s International Arbitration & Arbitrators.
This conference aims to expose participants to the various emerging trends and methods available for the effective and efficient resolution of international commercial disputes. It will also provide an overview of the leading national and international arbitration institutions engaged in providing the services and fora for the resolution of such disputes. Finally, it is hoped that this course will provide participants with a deep insight regarding the latest legal developments on important issues involving arbitration and its intersection with domestic courts.
This conference is particularly important for ADR practitioners, in-house counsel, state corporations, Judiciary, government ministries, and counties as it will impart them with necessary skills and knowledge to handle large PPP investments contracts with arbitration as a dispute resolution mechanism.
